Opaque Skiesは、ルンド天文台が所蔵する1880年から1910年までのノートの中から、観測に失敗したものを取り上げ、恒星の等級や位置の形象を交差させ描いたものである。これらの修正は、時間を示すだけでなく、科学的な資料の中にある私的側面、データの背後にある個人の姿を垣間見せる。CAGE GALLERYでの展示では、これらの見過ごされた痕跡を公共の場に再設置し、新たな場を与える。
 
Opaque Skies highlights unsuccessful observations found in notebooks in the archive of Lund Observatory, from the period 1880-1910, and depicts crossed over figures of stellar magnitudes and positions. These adjustments do not only testify to the passage of time, they also make visible a private aspect within the scientific material, a glimpse of the individual behind the data. In the exhibition at CAGE Gallery these disregarded traces are given a new position in a public setting.

CAGE GALLERY は、9月10日（土）よりJenny Åkerlund「Opaque Skies」を開催いたします。
 
ジェニー・オーケルンドは1984年生まれ、スウェーデンを拠点にイタリアやフランス、デンマークなどをはじめ国際的に活動するアーティストです。天文学をはじめとする科学的「観測」と作品に対する「鑑賞」がまじわるオーケルンドの作品は、歴史の中で見過ごされたエラーの痕跡などをトリガーに、視覚的な正しさに揺さぶりをかけます。
 
本展「Opaque Skies」では、アクリルに転写された恒星の観測記録を展示します。これらは単なる資料ではなく、失敗された観測記録であり、その意味で科学的価値は損なわれています。しかし、かえってそのことが、この資料的側面の特異性を強調していると言えるでしょう。この点に着目したオーケルンドは、それらを変換、鑑賞物へ転移させることにより、「観る」ことのさまざまなレイヤーを作り出します。

Jenny Åkerlund
 
Jenny Åkerlundは、知覚を出発点に、視覚文化に関する時間と置換の様相を中心とした作品を発表しています。科学史や天文学などの分野とドローイング、ガラス、ビデオなどを用いながら、目に見えるものの一時性をさまざまな方法で探求しています。
 
1984年生まれ。Malmö Art Academy (スウェーデン)にてMFA取得。 Display（イタリア・パルマ）、Kunsthal Charlottenborg（デンマーク・コペンハーゲン）、Goya Curtain（日本・東京）、Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac（フランス・パンタン）、 Galleri Tom Christoffersen（デンマーク・コペンハーゲン）、Galerie Jeanroch Dard（フランス・パリ）などで作品を発表。
 
With a starting point in the field of perception Jenny Åkerlund’s practice revolves around aspects of time and transformation inn relation to visual culture. Through the use of disciplines like history of science and astronomy, and with techniques spanning drawing, glass and video, she investigates the impermanent character of the visible in different ways.
 
Åkerlund (b. 1984) holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy. Her work has, among other places, been exhibited at Display, Parma, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Goya Curtain, Tokyo, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Pantin, Galleri Tom Christoffersen, Copenhagen and Galerie Jeanroch Dard, Paris.
