CAGE GALLERY は、ヘルシンキを拠点に活動するMikko Kuorinki（ミッコ・クオリンキ）とElina Vainio（エリナ・ヴァイニオ）による「Each has its speech」を開催します。

2024年、CAGE GALLERYで開催されたミッコ・クオリンキ「o o」で育まれたリレーションによって実現した本展では、クオリンキとヴァイニオの共同作品を発表します。この作品は、ヴァイニオによる潰れた段ボール箱のような白い形態に、鉛筆の走り書きの線を想起させる、カーボンファイバーの細いロッドをクオリンキがアッセンブルすることで、つくられました。

日常の中の断片的な事物を解釈し、詩的な言語を喚起させるクオリンキとヴァイニオ。「もの」が環境をつくると同時に、環境が「もの」を形づくることへの関心が作品となってあらわれる本作を、この機会にぜひご覧ください。


CAGE GALLERY presents the exhibition “Each has its speech”by the artist based in Helsinki Mikko Kuorinki & Elina Vainio.

The pair of white forms reminiscent of flattened cardboard boxes holding thin carbon fiber rods bent like lines in a pencil scribble, is a joint work by Mikko Kuorinki and Elina Vainio.
Working through instinctive notations of the mundane and the fragmented, both artists share an interest in the evocative depths of language and in how things shape their surroundings and are shaped by them.

Mikko Kuorinki
Mikko Kuorinki は、オブジェ、テキスト、音、写真など多岐にわたる要素によって展覧会を構成、一方でイベントや出版を通して作品を発表するなど、形式を超えた実践を続けています。拾得物と制作物、空間と歌の断片を素材として扱い、身近な事物から出発するドキュメンタリズム的まなざしが、取るに足らないように見える日常が不可思議へと変容する過程を掬い上げます。
 
Mikko Kuorinki combines various techniques, creating exhibitions composed of objects, texts, sounds, and photographs. In addition to exhibitions, Kuorinki’s works may take the form of events or publications. Materials of the works can be objects, rooms, texts, bits of songs, found and manufactured. A certain idea of documentarism is in the center of Kuorinki’s practice: he grabs on to what is at hand because of ten it is this seemingly meaningless and mundane material unfolds to him as a mystery.

Elina Vainio
Elina Vainio はヘルシンキを拠点に、慣習的な知覚を揺らすための事物のあり方を探究しています。固定観念を取り払う過程を反復し、素材が持つ性質やふるまいに意識を傾けながら、「見ること」の回路を刷新する試みを重ねています。フィンランド美術アカデミー（ヘルシンキ）で MFA、チェルシー・カレッジ・オブ・アート＆デザイン（ロンドン）で BFA を取得。

Elina Vainio is an artist based in Helsinki. Her practice explores the properties of materials with the aim of disrupting habitual assumptions in perception. The question of how not to take things for granted is a recurring theme in her work. She holds an MFA from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, and a BFA from Chelsea College of Art & Design, London.
